Five Great Ukraine Attractions

Taking a holiday in Ukraine and wondering what attractions this great country has to offer? There are many great things to see across many cities, but I will try to give you some of the most popular. Here are five outstanding Ukraine attractions you should not miss when taking a Ukraine vacation.

Sofiyivka
The National Dendrological Park is rated as the number one attraction in Uman which is a city in the central part of Ukraine, about 200 km south of Kiev.  This park houses the collection of all of the best gardening designs of the 19th century. With more than two thousand different varieties of plants, being in this beautiful Ukraine attraction is like walking into a fairy tale.

Balaklava Bay
One of the best bays in the Black Sea and protected from any storms by surrounding mountains, Balaklava Bay is an attraction that should be on your list of places to see when taking a holiday in Ukraine. It can be found in the southwest part of the Crimean Peninsula. The bay itself isn’t very long at only 1.5 km and its width is only half of a km. The top nearby attraction in this area is the Balaklava Naval Museum Complex. It is a museum which was converted from an underground submarine base which was a top secret military base during the Cold War.

Saint Sophia Cathedral
This church is an important architectural monument. Saint Sophia Cathedral is one of Kiev’s best known landmarks. The cathedral was built over the course of nine centuries and is a terrific example of Byzantine and Ukrainian Baroque architecture.

The Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet
This theater is the oldest  in all of Ukraine.  The history of the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater begins all the way back in 1810. The building facade was designed and constructed in accordance with the Italian baroque style. The most beautiful part of the theater is its hall, which was made in the rococo style.

Swallow’s Nest
This is a decorative sea castle which is located on the south seashore of the Crimean Peninsula between Yalta and Alupka. It is not a very large structure, but is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Crimea and it is known to be a symbol of the city in addition to having a reputation as a very romantic place to visit. The castle has an Italian restaurant inside for its guests.
